KARACHI, Jan 11: KMC Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that full support and cooperation will be provided for holding of Japan Festival aimed at celebrating 61th anniversary of Pakistan and Japan friendship.
He said this on a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan-Japan Cultural Association, Sindh led by its Lifetime Chairperson Fatima Surraiya Bajia and General Secretary Azmat Ataka.
Administrator Karachi said Pakistan and Japan has been enjoying mutual cordial relations since the establishment of their diplomatic relations in 1952. Both countries have made significant progress in the mutual cooperation in various sectors including culture, education and technology.
Fatima Surraiya Bajia said this year Japan Festival will be held on either March 2-3 or March 9-10 at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. She said in 2012 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of friendship between Pakistan and Japan, Japan Festival was organized by various Japan related organizations and Consulate General of Japan in Karachi on March 10 & 11,2012 at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi. The Arts Council and KMC were active organizers.
She said this Japn Festival became a great success due to hard work of various Japan related organizations and strong support and involvement of the Arts Council of Pakistan and Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. Taking this experience into consideration, various Japan related organizations and Consulate General of Japan in Karachi have decided to continue organizing the Japan Festival from now on every year.
Fatima Surriya Bajia informed that already two coordination committee meetings and four executive committee meetings of the Japan Festival 2013 have been held in which it has been decided to hold the festival on either March 2 &3 or March 9&10, 2013.
She asked Administrator Karachi to extend maximum cooperation for making the Japan Festival 2013 even more successful than the last event.
Administrator Karachi said KMC will act as co-organizer of Japan Fest 2013 and all the required facilities including fire brigade, ambulance with medical staff will also be provided to the organizers and banners will be prepared and put on in the city on this occasion.
He expressed hope that Japan Fest 2013 will become even more successful event and it would provide good opportunity to the people of Karachi to enhance their knowledge about Japanese culture and traditions.
